Level 1 Teacher (ages 2.5 - 5)
Overview: Level 1 Teacher responsibilities include observing and assessing class interests, occasionally planning and implementing lessons and activities that expand on children’s current interests, and creatively documenting class lessons to showcase the progress of the students. Level 1 teacher will work with co-teacher to create an optimal learning environment for the students.
Requirements:
-current CPR/First Aid certificate
-Either:
1) 1 year child development experience in a licensed day car home, nursery school, kindergarten, or licensed day care center PLUS 6 semester or equivalent quarter hours in courses relation directly to child care and/or development from an accredited college or university;
2) 1 year (30 semester hours of 45 quarter hours) of credit from an accredited college or university with 6 semester or equivalent quarter hours related directly to child care and/or child development
-ability and desire to encourage experiences that are play-based and child-centered
-deep appreciation for and connection to nature
-highly relational and effective collaborator and communicator
-physical ability: teaching involves extended periods of time in the outdoors in all weather, with hiking and moderate physical challenges

Substitute Teacher
Overview: Substitute teacher is able to stand-in as our regular teacher to carry out class lessons & observation intellectual in an outdoor environment. Substitute teaching these multi-grade classes in the forest includes 1) observing and assessing class interests, 2) planning and implementing lessons and activities that enrich and extend current interests, and 3) creatively documenting student skills to showcase the progress of the students. Works alongside a co-teacher.
